Can someone point me to some regulators with wide exhaust ports. Sub $500 range.
My mustache already allows some water seepage and when the exhaust bubbles start moving my mask around, I'm clearing way too often. I'm going to buy a new one anyway and I might as well look for a wide exhaust port feature if it's available in something I like.

Thanks, Steve

Well you can get a Huntington beach locally owned Atomic with a wide exhaust "T":

http://www.atomicaquatics.com

The M1 has "Super wide exhaust deflector: The exhaust deflector has been extended to enhance visibility by better deflection of the exhaust bubbles."

I believe this is an option on all their other regs.

Cheers.

I wish I knew when reg makers would realize that the exhausts on many of their products are absolutely lousy for videographers. My beloved G250's all blow bubbles between my mask and my camera housing's rear port so I have to hold my breath (not good when filming mid-water column).

The Sherwood "Walruss" exhaust Tee should do the trick.

If you're looking used, the Apeks TX series has a real exahust tee. The newer XTX series comes with both short and long exhaust tees that you can swap in a few seconds.

You know... I've got to be honest for a second here. I've measured the "wide" vs normal exhausts... You don't gain an inch. Maybe part of an inch. Well really, moving the bubbles 1/2 inch on each side will not make them miss your mask. Unless someone had a 10 inch exhaust - and then it would be so hard to exhale - you wouldn't be able to.

So really, the main key is positioning in the water. If you are looking down, and swimming horizontal, the bubbles don't hit you in the face anyway. The move around your neck and up to the surface. Now for photographers, video guys, etc, sometimes it can be a problem... but I've found it doesn't really get any better for me with a "wide exhaust". But then again.... that might just be my big head!

The people that seem to complain the most about bubbles are the new divers in a pool - and that's because if in training, so much time is spent vertical. But when diving - you really don't spend much time in that position.

edit: Oh, and as far as Poseidon or other side exhaust regs, keep in mind if it's exhausting on the left side of your head, if you tilt your head to the left - all the bubbles come in front of your face - while with a normal exhaust, they go out the right side when you tilt left and vice versa.

I'd suggest that you go with an older Cyclon-300 or an OMEGA II or a double hose.

If you get one of the Scubapro bubble deflector OEM add-on kits these don't just take the bubbles further laterally, they curve back like reverse horns. I had to get mine from the UK, weren't offered in the USA, now they're gone from the Scubapro lineup but I used to see them on eBay from someone in Hong Kong every now & then.

OK, here's the thread . . .

Pictures installed on post #19 in that thread. These work great on my G500 & S600.
