Hoping some SA locals can let me know if a stop off at Whyalla is worth it now? Just landed in Adelaide, cruising past rapid bay tomorrow for a few days on KI then back around the coast to port Lincoln. I know the giant cuttlefish season is a spectacle In winter, but wondering if it’s still worth a dip mid summer?? Any juvenile cuttles hang in the area between breeding seasons or is it best to skip this??

Thanks in advance!

Hi CK,

I suggest that you ask the dive store (Whyalla Diving Services | Swim with Cuttlefish near Whyalla) in Whyalla about local diving conditions and site - I have been told that the water is quite warm (i.e. 25 C).

If you are driving to Port Lincoln via Whyalla, I suggest that you consider a dive at the Tumby Bay jetty which is well-known as a Leafy Sea Dragon site.
