Hola From Texas.

About to start logging dives with the intention of being a dive instructor some day.
Have about 40 dives all under 60 feet except 1. (95ft).

did not log cause never wanted to go past Open water diver (Naui 1982).

New to advanced scuba really like the idea of wreck diving. :dork2:

New to board :lotsalove:

To Scubaboard. You might want to tell folks where in Texas you are from. Then check out the buddie list. Here in Florida many of us have hooked up from time to time as it makes diving a lot more exciting and fun. Again Welcome.

From Houston, did not think there was much diving in Texas (was not much in 1982) however I read about the junk off shore in Padre and looking forward to that also some of the lakes appear to have added some interest . about to spend another 12 days in BVI (may 11-23 '08) and will be looking to take a tech diving course when I get back. as mentioned I am looking at doing some deep no deco dives in BVI and will want to get schooled on this fancy nitrox stuff ;)

Welcome to Scubaboard, and there is plenty of diving in Texas, although sometimes it may be a bit murky for some folks tastes;)

Lake Travis has been reporting 15-30 ft vis down to around 40' and 6-15 below that down to deeper that I usually dive it.

New Mammoth Lake scuba park has opened up down in your neck of the woods, I plan on coming down to check that out sometime this summer.

Try reading and posting in the Texas Swamp Divers Forum here on Scubaboard for more info on Texas diving and divers. Also check out CHUM, an active Houston area dive group.

Also, they run charters to the Flower Gardens. I went a couple of years ago to see hammerheads schooling.

I went through this operation. tomsscuba.com - Tom's Dive and Swim

A lot of dives in the spring get cancelled due to weather but we got extremely lucky... Our trip embarked and we got to see TONS of SHARKS....

Just make sure to wear the right wetsuit and bring a hood. The flower gardens are down about 80-90 ft so you want to be comfortable.

For the record I passed my IE yesterday. I posted this here since I am blowing my own horn. and to look back and see where I started and what has happened since. I still do not have all my wreck training but looking forward to starting it next month.
