I am a new but slightly frustrated diver. I won't bother getting into the reasons why I'm frustrated, as they are posted on another thread. But it would be nice to hear about some of your best dive experiences, to remind me why I'm struggling.

So, why do you dive? What makes all of the training and risks worth it for you?

because I can't swim in my aquariums

It's where the fish are.

because I really should of had gills. Growing up I was always in the water, just love it.
Last summer while Dad and I were fishing, I still just had to jump off the boat, 42 and still a kid..................

The ability to go places and see things, firsthand, that most people will only get to see in a picture.

BINGO.

Well, I agreed to try diving at a LDS because it was the only way I could get a guy I was interested in to go do something . . .That seemed to have worked - he got a dive buddy and I got an awesome boyfriend.

Some things I like about diving:
-Seeing all the fish - and I've only been in freshwater quarries so far! Can't wait to make it to the ocean
-The immediate sense of community among divers
-Never having to wonder what to do for vacation
-All the gear takes care of having to worry about what to do with you're spare change.

I am fairly new to diving at <1yr. I origianally got OW certified to be able to dive while on a cruise last year. I have always been fascinated by the interesting critters & things in the ocean, and while snorkeling is fun, I wanted to get closer to the action. I did a resort course in Grand Cayman on another cruise and it was fantastic to say the least! The thought of being able to breathe underwater was super cool along with the feeling of wieghtless flight. At home I am rather land locked, and so I am relegated to diving in old quarries, strip pits & lakes. These are in no way as interesting as the ocean, but there are still things to see & do. I have met many, many wonderful people while diving and I am looking forward to meeting more. As with any sport, you only get out of it what you put into it. I haven't read any of your other posts, so I don't really know what has frustrated you, but I've always looked at frustration in learning a sport as a challenge to be overcome, not a deterent. It is all a part of the learning proccess. All I can do is wish you the best of luck in your endeavour, and hope for you that things settle into thier proper places, so that perhaps, someday, you may enjoy this sport.
