I'd say it happens in just about every sport - However Scuba allows the participants to say "you'll die" more frequently which adds an air of finality about whatever opinion is being touted as "best"...

I wish everyone would use a little larger font but then again it gives me a reason to sit up and take another drink of beer with every new page....
So unless we are talking about the funny plastic head banging things, most people that go off have little to no time with what they are talking about. Case in point, AIR2s. Some dipjack at a scuba shop went off on them for what ever reason and now it's law, never tried one but THEY ARE BAD!!!!
Diving is a progression. You learn one thing, dive some more then form different opinions and move to something else.
Funny, y'all jump on Lisa yet she is one of the few that can figure out how to use large font......Kind of makes you feel, well , you know, not so bright.

I think it is because divers develop a dependent relationship with their gear, so they naturally want to think that their gear, which is "life support" equipment, is the best.

It's supposed to be about having fun, seeing cool animals, being in a different world, etc. -- not about backplates or BC's (Gawd, is that the most boring topic ever....)

Tell that to my ultrasonic cleaner....
