I havent had a single buddy yet, that even comes close to the SB standard.
Well, since you dive solo and don't have many dives you haven't had many dive buddies, I reckon.
I don't know what SB standard is but don't show up all full of yourself. You're supposed to help each other out in a team.
Maybe look for some more training and meet people that way.
I don't think you're doing yourself a favour with this 'everybody sucks' attitude.

I dont have that attitude. This is me venting anonymously. I think ya'll get my point.

But Im pretty sure, if I struggle to reach my buddy, for any reason, theyd never notice.

Im sure Ill come across a better clique eventually.

When did we lose the dir forum moderators? What even is this garbage?
I was able to join the "DIR" subforum for the last 3 months of its life. Apparently some time ago there was an update on the forum, and a decision was made to leave it open or something for all... or at least that's how a remember it.

Why are the rules still stickied if there are no rules?
It seems like there are plenty of other places for strokes to argue that solo diving is safer than buddy diving

It also illustrates how poor the buddy system is. If your buddy disappears, and you dont notice for 5 times longer than it takes to drown, whats the point?
What if there was a special tool that diver could carry underwater, and it could omit photons, that could be perceived by the other divers while interactive with the matter on surfaces?
We could even use it for communication or for displaying our position.

Im all for, under water laser swords.
Ok. Great. Because light sabers make truly difficult for buddies to disappear. Don't get me wrong, I have extremely limited experience as a rec diver. But I had the luck to have some dives in waters with less than few inches visibility, and still lights could pretty well indicate positions in a proximity that sane divers would be in such conditions.
