Seems very narcissistic for someone to think someone else is following them around in the forums. Just because someone is in the same forum as you reading and commenting on the same posts does not mean they are following you.

I'm old, but I was born in Barranquilla Colombia (South America) and simply hate Faux News. My mother and oldest sister were born in China to boot. I already enjoy dual citizenship and am eligible for a third. I've been told by a few that I hate Trump, though I prefer not to hate anyone. I doubt that I'll fit in many, if any, of your pigeon holes.
I would agree with this statement. Alas, my cover is blown.
Indeed. No one is out to get you, not even the mods. They moderate not only to rid the forums of unneeded rancor, but to prevent the same.
Except for Chilly. She's out to get everyone. J/K, but she's pretty leftist and from Canuckistan at that. She's hardly your idea of a "Merican". She's riding herd on that thread so keep it tight.
If you actually read the whole thread in its entirety, you will find that it wasn't a "joke". That it is a common analogy used during training when referencing getting into a restriction.I have not been attacked but I have 'gone off on you'? wow.
Saying I went off on someone in the deleted post is a lie. Meanwhile, winnie the pooh jokes about a young guy who died hours before the jokes was made, was no issue.
I guess you're enjoying this.
This is exactly why people ignore you or are bothered by you. You have good points often. The way you present them is the problem. Jumping to derogatory political statements is dumb. You don’t know any of our leanings. I’m in Florida so you therefore would label me a trumpster. But you actually have no f’ing clue where my political thoughts are.I'm pretty sure you're really not that dense and just trying to wind me up. At the same time... I reckon most of you are older Merican that actually like fox news. Last time I mentioned it, I also got thread banned, straight away... which was odd. Did I hit a sore spot?
Can I get back into your and Wookie and the mod crews good graces if I act like I think Trump is a genius business man who's got the best words? I know that could soften up wookie some if I'll **** talk all these lazy millinals some. How about that, huh? Sound good?
I have no dog in this particular thread. But I have moderated other large forums before, and was meaning to ask about this issue. The tendency of some mods on this board to stealthily edit people's posts has always rubbed me the wrong way. Sure delete a rule-breaking post and notify the user, fine. Give them a strike and warn of impending ban, great. Even leaving a post up but removing a nasty sentence, and notifying the user their message has been altered could be okay. But changing the actual content of what somebody says behind their back (even if objectionable) is nasty, slimy, and raises all sorts of problems. Trust, integrity, free speech, and potential for abuse first of all (although some of the more facistic moderaters I've known might argue that those don't exist on their forums) and secondarily the offender never even knows they posted something objectionable if it's edited without notification. If you stand by doing stealth edits, why? What is the moderation guideline here on this? What was the thinking on that policy? There will be no more "mod edits" to remove offending, disruptive, off topic or argumentative language, thereby leaving to stand the "cleaned and edited" portions of the members' posts.

I Am Not A Lawyer (use the acronym ss needed), but that kind of editorial moderation may be used to classify SB as a content creator, not just a provider subject to the "Good Samaritan " protection of the CDMA. See the thread on critics of a liveaboard being sued for libel as an example of why this is a risk for SB.The tendency of some mods on this board to stealthily edit people's posts has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Of course, IANAL.
diver.net is still around and it’s older than SB, (late 90’s I think). It’s a Southern CA based board.A deeply religious mod hard deleted it. It's why we don't let them do that anymore.
DiverNet just got re-established I think... I'm not sure it's a forum anymore, but it might pre-date us. It hasn't been continuous though. We are the lone survivor at this point.
Indeed.
Mod rules are that edits are not allowed by the moderators.
If someone is doing that there needs to be a report filed.
Posts are supposed to live or die in their entirety UNLESS the poster desires an edit and the time for editing has passed.
