Interesting to get banned for saying decompression sickness is not a minor issue. I always liked his input. Boulderjohn apparently didn't.

Among the mods John is one of the first to recuse himself from moderation anytime there's a potential conflict of interest. So that's not it.

Possibly. There was a lot of uproar with some who participated in that thread, so I don't know if it was coincidental to the accident.
