now I find that the slower I come up the better I feel afterwards, regardless of whether is air or Nitrox.

Which has a good grounding in theory, bubble formation isnt as rapid, offgassing is more controlled and what is thought to be sub clinical DCS symptoms would be less all due to a more controlled ascent rate.

The nitrox makes you feel better argument has never been proven in any study attempted and the placebo effect could well kick in. Some swear it does, some swear it doesnt and scientifically its very hard to test "fatigue" quantitatively.

My wife and I both dive Nitrox when we're on a liveaboard doing 4-5 dives a day for a week. Whether its "real" or "placebo", we both definitely feel less tired, less prone to headaches and chills, than we do when we used to dive the same number of dives on air.

DORSETBOY:
Orangebloke, did you find a difference in terms of tiredness compared to normal? I know it's one of the benefits everyone's told about but I didn't notice any difference myself.

I have been diveing with nitrox ,since june of this year ,am 45y old .my 2 cents ,ean32 no help as for beinging tired, ean 40 at 18' with alt 21.6' did 2 dives one 30mins includeing long underwater swim, second dive 32 mins doing short swim and skills,so the high ean seemed to give me more time out of al80 tank, was I tired you bet surface swim out 100 yards legs give out had to call 3 dive of day.

I use it when ever I can. Use it for DECO gas 50/50 as well as bottom gas. Also use it for regular diving. I'm over 45 and I can tell the difference.

depending on availability. It certainly helps with fatigue and for the added safety. On the other hand, the PADI Nitrox course is in no way to be taken as part of Tech diving or as motivation to use it for deco diving. Maria

Used it here, but mainly abroad. Used in in longer deeper dives in Rhas Mo. Added safety factor. An definetley less tired. Came out of the water quite buzzed actually. Felt great. Did one dive on notrox one day and due to busted threads had to dive air the next dive, felt a huge difference for the worse on air.
