I've used nitrox in the past and can teach it if I want to, in reality I've hardly ever used it - certainly not in the past year.

Do any of you use nitrox and why do you use it?

To clarify, I don't feel I have any use for nitrox as I do 2-4 dives per week, average dive being shallower than 25m and shorter in duration than 35-40 mins.

i use it.

i wanted to use it for less nitrogen loading.

So i took up the nitrox then advanced nitrox. am thinking if i want to teach it.

But it turns out i used it for DECO diving for the last stages, off gassing to have greater oxygen nitrogen gradient speeding up off gassing of nitrogen.

I use it ... as a deco gas and for "normal" diving. I don't ALWAYS use it, but it gives me an added safety margin if I will be working the following day (work involves flying).

The PADI basic NitrOx class (at least as I took it) focused on using Nitrox as a tool for longer bottom times, or multiple repetetive dives. It did not focus on tech / deco applications.

It's not really/easily available in Japan.

I would use it more if it was - and affordable. It's supposed to be better for people over 45 years old.

Most places don't have it so it's not always any option.
Used it earlier this year on a liveaboard to the Similans. The fills there were only an extra USD$4 so I used as I figured that it might help easy some of the tierdness of the 4-5 dives we did per day and also it allowed to get back in touch with the theory of it. Most of the time plain ole 21% air is all I need

Orangebloke, did you find a difference in terms of tiredness compared to normal? I know it's one of the benefits everyone's told about but I didn't notice any difference myself.

does the padi nitrox level course provide a good intro into tech level diving?

Emphatically NO (I know, I took the course).

Are you refering to tech diver training? Ive done and taught the padi nitrox course but Im wondering whether that level provides an applicable intro into tech level training?
