I'm looking to get an ultrasonic cleaner to do O2 cleaning on my own equipment but see a huge range of cleaners. Basically, they seem to run from about $30 to well over $500.

Is a $30 cleaner up to the job - bear in mind quick turnaround is not a problem - if the stuff has to stay in over night that's fine and the quantities are small - just the parts of a tank valve (and maybe regulator parts in future).

Any opinions?

The Crest line of cleaners is pretty effective. One of the nice features is that is oscillates around a frequency rather than just camping out on it. I broke down and got one with heat feature also.... combo that with something like simple green and the stuff cleans up pretty quickly (minutes).

A buddy got one of the cheap plastic ones, and I suppose it would do in a pinch... but not if you're doing a several parts. You did say you could afford to take your time, so that might work for you. I am glad I spent a couple extra dollars to get the small Crest though.... don't remember the exact model... but it's the 100 series.... friend has it or I'd look...

Yes, the cheaper one also works... You can assemble/disassemble one stage while other stage are in the UL bath. In addition, you run the cycle twice if it doesn't meet your expectation... I also got one off eBay.

Don't forget...The basket is a "MUST HAVE" option.

I have been using a cheap china sonic cleaner for years.... it works fine. It does take longer, but I too have the time to clean 1-2 valves/regs at a time. I have the 1.4L version. When you put in hot water, a bit of O2 clean compattible solution.. it comes out cleaner than you bought it..... I think I bouth it on eBay for around 60 bucks.

I bought a Sonic Wave untrasonic cleaner new from American Science & Surplus for about $60 delivered. It does a great job! It has a 0.6L stainless steel tank, a three-minute timerand a year warranty.

Usually, I use vinegar as a solvent.
