Who is the "final word" as to what is DIR?

I am pretty sure if either GI3 or JJ had any new ideas they would run them by each other first.

I think GUE's and WKPP's DIR is the same thing, with minor, sometimes inconsequential differences (tied on vs o-ringed on-both ok, as long as not metal to metal). I also think JJ and GI3 bounce ideas off each other when they dive together. I also think thats the secret, UP?

here's another way to look at it:

DIR came about from the WKPP, GI3 is the leader of the WKPP, but JJ is his dive partner. JJ is the founder/leader of GUE, GUE is the organization that teaches DIR.

Now, what good DIR teammate doesn't consult his partner about changes?

My answer is both JJ and GI3

The term "Hogarthian" was a joke among WKPP members. They had the "Society
of Hogarth" and other silliness which tainted the seriousness of what we
were doing in the WKPP. When I took over the project I discontinued
references to that since it was being used by strokes everywhere in a SWBS,
personal preference, convoluted fashion, and really was not any complete
system or anything other than streamlining and breathing the long hose.
Believe me, the gear those guys were diving was ANYTHING but right, other
than some of what Bill Gavin did. We changed all that and JJ and I did not
want our system to be confused with hogarthian. Our ways cover all diving
and diving to the most ridiculous extreme as practiced by me and JJ.
Besides, Exley is the one who started breathing the long hose first, and
breathing the long hose merely says you are not hopelessly stupid, but not
much else.

I voted for PUG since he opinion is so widely heard by everybody.

I have a question. do GUE trained divers feel that DIR [meaning all that it stands for] was invented by GUE. just wondering.

if the above is correct, then would GUE and DIR be the same thing

I understand that one is the teacher and one is the subject, but if the subject is the teacher then it seems that it would be the same.

most of the people on this board anyways get their DIR/GUE information from UNCLE PUG.
this is very important to realize as I have been stating lately you should consider your source. this proves that even unwillingly he is teaching people the DIR/GUE way

not that it is bad, but we all know the others, their background and qualifications to be able to stand on thier soap box and preach.

If it's DIR, how can there be any difference (Uncle P)? I thought that was the main tenant to DIR - that there was only one right way. Please clarify...
