"The CEO of Leisure Pro would be my GUESS. Unless we adjust for inflation"
_______________________________________________

He and the company is a late bloomer in diving. It is a retail operation with a low profit margin and low ROI.

Bob Peterson sold Skin Diver Magazine for 430 million dollars---It was in turn sold several years later in a package dewal with other magazines for several billion dollars

Clive Clussler has sold about one billion Dirk Pitt books. Recognizng the profit margin after the first printing incrreases expodentially he is possibly very high on the list.

Phil Neuton sells his suits for One mill a peice and has sold a lot of them.

Bev Morgan supplies the world with his hats and has done so for 40 years.

There are numerous others that would top Leisure Pro but I do not have time to list them. Good Luck,

Genesis got banned and his posts made a lot more sense than tonka97's

Certainly not propaganda promulgated by the likes of Fidel Castro, Mao tse tung, Adolph Hitler, Ho chi minh, Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, or Joe Stalin.

Hmmm.. didn't our own government arm the likes of these two?

At least Castro was a SCUBA/free diver and from what I've heard protected at least some of the reefs in Cuba. JY Cousteau seemed to think he was a bright individual. Don't agree with his politics, but...

Incisive profundity. :coffee:

Do you plan on seeing Shadow Divers?
Should be an eye opener, and a money maker that is related to our hobby!

;)

You bet...Joseph Stalin too! The alliance with the Soviet Union was VITAL in defeating a greater threat, Adolph Hitler.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Ironic and true.

Doesn't mean that I would trust them or believe their version of history.:shakehead

Although we think of Cousteau as a diver and environmentalist, he was primarily a film maker. His movies, books, and TV shows were award winners... and money makers. At the height of his fame, he was often named as one of the most admired people, sometimes the most admired person in the world. He held an executive title with the people who make aqualung gear.

There may be others who have made big money in underwater construction or salvage, but with scuba as we know it, Captain Cousteau certainly made a good fortune.

Castro was a very good free diver.
Might want to check out the early Skin Diver Magazines; those published prior to 1959.

The Cubans always had great world class spearfishing teams until Castro prohibited them from leaving Cuba for the world meets.

Yes, Castor was a dictator but he also thought "wet." More than can be said about the US who shut down "Man in the Sea" after the Barry Canon event. Now the US program is called "Man on the Dock.."

I consider the cited references, footnotes, and qualifications of the author, in addition to the content and relevance of the history resource.:coffee:

I also am open to criticisms and counter points to the particular book.

Let the buyer beware!;)

Speaking of being aware, how is that Shadow Divers movie coming along? That may be a mega hit! $$
BTW Hitler wrote a great (as in impressively accurate and a clear forewarning of things to come) book. He was certainly qualified and it is very relevant to the historical context. I'll let you borrow it if you read German..?

No one has mentioned Dr. Sylvia Earle. Doubt she is the wealthiest of course, but certainly one of the smartest and the company she is co-owner of supplies a lot of undersea equipment for the energy industry. We all know they have lots of money... because it used to be in our pockets!
