Speaking of Texas - I'll be visiting my sister (in McKinney) in late July. Any dives in the area that are good for newbies?
Lake Texoma shouldn't be that far from McKinney either. Other direction though.
Foo,ACK! Betty, go to Terrell. Pearldiver means well, and Texoma isn't that far from McKinney, but you are taking a big risk of losing your head (literally) in Texoma, due to the fact that it is crazy busy with boats and has poor vis. CSSP is a designated scuba park, much safer and clearer vis, air fills, platforms, stuff to see underwater, etc. As a newbie diver, you will probably really enjoy diving there, but IMO Texoma might be a bit stressful until you have more experience. I will be in Coz in late July, but I'm sure you would have Swampdivers available to meet and dive at CSSP.
Do the Dive Around Texas dives have to be done in 2009 only? I've dived in Tyler State Park, Clear Springs, Lake Hawkins (!), Blue Lagoon, Comal River, Aquarena, Lake Travis, but not all in '09.
