Well, Our first dives are planned for this weekend. we will be heading to whitestar unless something on the northcoast pans out.

We will be diving wet, and Im assuming that it will be ok for us to pitch a tent with a portable heater for us to change in and out of our suits and recover between dives...

Any one have any suggestions. I definately want my wife to enjoy the experience, so tips on warmth during and after are welcome.

thanks

Water should be in the high 30s there this weekend. Prepare to freeze. A thermos full of hot chocolate might stop your teeth from chattering. Don't forget a hat and gloves to put on between dives. Even if the air temp rises up to the 60s, you will be needing a little help defrosting after your wetsuit dives. On the plus side, the viz is really good this time of year. I might see ya up there..... in my drysuit!

A pop-up canopy with sides, and a heater inside.

Excellent- If anyone ends upheading that way, let me know so we can say hello.

Bringing hot water in 2 liter pop bottles (wrapped in towels and kept in the car) can provide a nice way to put your wet suit back on )for the second/subsequent) dive(s). (Pour the still-warm water into your WET (and cold) suit as you suit up.)
Have fun - but even I'm not that brave!

Have a container of warm water that you can put your hoods and gloves into between dives to keep them warm. A gallon of warm water dumped into your suit immediately prior to getting in the water will help also. Get geared up completely, approach your entry point, put the water in your suit and enter. Make sure to pick up your containers after the dive. Bring plenty of warm clothes and make sure to wear a hat and mittens, warm head and hands go a long way toward being comfortable. You can wear polarfleece socks to help insulate your feet inside your booties.

All good tips!

I've also used the heater in the changing room. Very doable if there aren't that many people there.

If you plan to do more than one dive, bring a dry bathing suit to put on after the first dive.

Have fun!
