I'm a beginner, considering getting my PADI OW Cert.
I've been on 4 resort dives, the last 2 were Bora Bora/Moorea in June.
There is a LDS that uses elearning prior to the pool, so I'm not sure what if any actual materials are given out.
I will confirm with them.
My question is this.
If that's the case, which PADI OW crewpak should I pick up, or what should I make sure I have?
There are so many versions of the Crewpak that it's confusing.
Manual, Logbook, eRDPML, DVD ???
I'd like to read/study with an actual manual in hand, rather than look at a computer screen.
Thanks in advance.

If you have a specific instructor/shop in mind then certainly contact them to ensure you get the package they prefer. The crew pack options work by price point to satisfy the course requirements as well as the needs of the student and shop. So....elearning enables you to watch the videos (DVDs) online and view the class materials/eRDPML (manual), if you choose not to use elearning then the instructor/shop may schedule you time to view their videos, and you will only require the manual and eRDPML, if you purchase the crewpak with the DVDs then you can view them at your leisure. The log book is a nice to have but not essential (although it is a requirement to log your dives, this can be by other means however). So, I'd recommend contacting the instructor/shop and you should identify the package that best suits your needs.

Clear as mud?

Thanks for the reply!
I'll email them and see which one they recommend.

Training log book is required. Has pages for academic/confined water verification . So if doing elearning you would need a erdpml/training log book. No need for dvd ot text as this is covered and accessible via elearning. Check with LDS and they should/ will have what you need.

The training verification is also recorded on the student folder, which the instructor/shop must fill out and have you sign. You can request a copy of this if you are doing a "referal", class and pool one place and OW dives elsewhere. There is also a PADI referal form that the instructor can fill out for you, has the same information. Cheers!

Thanks guys.
I'm assuming that at a minimum, I'll need an eRDPML and log book.
I might get a manual anyway, since I'd rather read it than look at a computer monitor--also have the reference.

Yup. Phoenix.

Sweet! I'm down in Maricopa. I am actually going through PADI OW right now. Just had my third day of class today (Two days in class, and one day in pool). I am going through Scuba Magic in Tempe.

When I purchased my OW course, I got a PADI Open Water Manual, and a PADI eRDPml. All applicable rental scuba gear was provided besides your basic four piece.

I've seen those crewpacks at Sport Chalet in Tempe Marketplace. Not sure which one you need, but just wanted to point out what I got for my OW cert.

Good Luck!!

Thanks.
I'm just starting to look into it now.
I'm considering Bubbles Up Dive in Chandler.
Reasonable price, flexible hours, since he certifies on the side. He's a Chandler Fire Captain.
I emailed PADI directly to see if they could give any information on him.
Hopefully, they get back with me.
