It's one of the classes he intends to take

It's one of the classes he's "considering taking" in order to make him a better diver and reach his goals of diving iron bottom sound, etc.. :mooner:

In any case, he's clarified his goals. I haven't taken Cavern/Intro, but I hear good things. I also learned a lot in my equivalent course (linked to in my link :D).

It sounds like ... normoxic has to be done. Any particular order?

No reason to have a normoxic card if you aren't diving those sites yet, I guess. You can get >=21% oxygen with your IANTD AdvRecTrimix card. So long as the sites you're currently or soon diving are within your personal PO2 tolerance on 21/xx, I say go for the Cavern type course.

It's the best precursor before "Wreck Penetration", which is overhead. I think it's best to work out trim/buoyancy issues in a clear spring with absolutely no boat related time constraints.
Fundies works great for that, no overhead needed.

The current system of no intro to tech and then cavern/intro is silly, and retards development as a technical diver by adding unnecessary factors into a dive that should be about learning skills...at least I felt like it slowed my progress down. If I had to do it over, from seeing divers who did it this way, I would take fundies and THEN start overhead training.
