I love the comfort of my Chute II (Oceanic) as far as BCs are concerned. It works for most of my diving. For technical diving I prefer my DeepSeaSupply Kydex backplate and their single wing. For dubles, I love my Fred-T backplate and OMS wing. None are for sale, as I like having the right tool for the job. Why limit yourself when you don't need to?

"i've narrowed it down to three: sea-quest balance, sea-quest black diamond, and the zeagle ranger. any comments on these?"

I've owned both a Ranger and Ranger LTD. Both are excellent, and are generally considered the standard by which convential BCs (at least heavy-duty ones) are judged. I know someone who owns a Black Diamond, and other than not having a cordura bag over the bladder, seems comparable to the Zeagle.

Between the three you've selected, I'd go with the Zeagle.

The Ranger will probably have the best resale value down the road ;)

I just bought a BP/W, my Seaquest Black Diamond is for sale...........

What size is it, and how much you want for it?

H2Andy:
again, just because someone (in this case me) wonders
why someone isn't using a bc/wings doesn't mean
that i look down on people who chose BC's over bp/wings.

for like the umpteenth time, the reason i talk about
bp/wings with relatively new divers is that i wish i had
known about that option earlier in my diving.

Exactally!

If you have done all your research and determined that a BC is right for you then more power to you. I would vote for The Ranger LTD if you want a BC.

H2Andy:
i would strongly urge you to consider a backplate and wing package from Dive Rite or Halcyon (though you dont' have to buy from them directly).

there is no setup as versatile and as infinitely adjustable as the backplate and wings.

the Transpac II is ok, but I'd go with a true backplate/wings, which is what the Transpac II wants to be anyway.
hi there
sorry to crash this thread, any idea how heavy a back plate and wings would be, i'm also thinking of a new BCD, it's weight will influence my choice

Most of the guys at my LDS use the popular Zeagle Ranger LTD. I almost bought one until I tried on the Oceanic Chute lll. Better, more comfortable fit, much less expensive. A winning combination for me.

i've looked and looked and it seems that the choices are not dwindleing. i want to buy a bc, but don't know which to get. i know that fit, comfort, and versatility are all considerations; however, most of the ones i've looked at boast all of that. i've narrowed it down to three: sea-quest balance, sea-quest black diamond, and the zeagle ranger. any comments on these?

get the ranger, the modular system is nice if you are a tough fit, and you can also expand as well.
