hi guys. i'm looking to order myself a BC sometime in the next few days and i'm wondering which would be better as an entry level BC.

Mares Vector Origin 1000 Denier BC for $169.99: at JoeDiverAmerica.com

OR

Mares/Dacor Condor BC - Buoyancy Compensator: at JoeDiverAmerica.com

the second one doesn't seem to have a chest strap i dunno if thats because of the size they have pictured. i don't see much difference between the 2 seems a bit trivial but i just wanted to get a few opinions cuz this would be the first time i'm ever buying dive gear.

The most important factors in any dive gear are fit and comfort and it's really hard to try BCs on over the internet. This is especially true for someone buying their first set of gear.

I'm going to stand up for LDSs everywhere. Walk in - talk to them about the gear and the type of diving you plan to do. They may (should) have BCs for you to try in the pool or on a local dive. That way to get to make an informed choice. Yes - it might cost a couple of bucks extra, but your LDS should be able to provide you better service than some internet portal.

I know that not all LDSs are created equal but at least give them a shot.

Not only that but if you have an issue with gear you buy from Joe Diver who ya gonna call if there's a problem? They do not have a phone contact. Only email and fax. Also who will service your gear if it requires it? Do a search on Joe Diver threads here on the board, it may open your eyes a little.
