and where would you buy it if someone wanted to gift it to you?

OK, OK..... It is for myself, but I have read numerous pony threads, but unfortunately they all get derailed by certain people and I am not just talking about DRWho........

So help me pick a 19cf pony without telling me that I am a jerk because I like to buy a bit of "air insurance"

Thanks.........

Muddyriver the only 19cf I saw was the catalina brand......
I also heard they were on the heavy side so I was looking for more brands to compare
Thanks for the links

Take a look at the luxfer brand, they are really good stage bottles, and they are light. Don't you have Giant stride dive shop by you:idk:

a 19 is ok... why not buy a 30cf or a 40cf? that way if you continue on in your diving career, you can use it for something else... Only use for a 19cf, other than a pony is for a CCR. needless to say, if you are buying your first pony, a ccr, is either many many years away, or not in the picture at all. a 30 is not a whole lot bigger than a 19 and not a whole lot more expensive... probably also easier to re-sell. Your LDS could probably order you whatever you want. It is probably easier that way, because they are going to ask you where you bought it when it shows up for it's first fill. Always awkward said "online", especially when you didn't ask them about it!

Catalina is just fine. What you may have read is that especially in the larger cylinders including the AL80 Catalina has a thicker hence heavier bottom. For a diver with several as doubles and/or stages this makes for a tail heavy situation. As for a 19CF pony don't give it a second thought.

Mine is a Luxfer... got it from ScubaToys years back.

Why must every post asking about a 13 or 19 have at least one person assuming the OP hasn't considered his needs and immediately point out that a '30 would be a much better option'? Really? Maybe the OP never want to do anything that requires a 30. Maybe a 19 is exactly what he wants/needs now and forever.

I bought my 19 cu ft catalina from LeisurePro.com. It comes with a "Genesis Pro Valve" which, I am told, allows you to use yoke or din regs.
