Grrr..grr.... only got to ride 1 whole ride.. kept getting rain SPRINKLES and rides kept getting shut down. EVEN THE WATER RIDE was temorarily closed for RAIN! And one ride was closed for 15 minutes while they searched for a "lost article" that turned out to be a pair of $3.50 Circle-K ZZ-Top style cheap sunglasses!

Oh well.. diving Venice this Sunday :)

Busch Garden is like Disney World but with free beer. Make sure that you visit the hospitality center. Several times. Beer always tastes best when its free.

SeaJay- I've seen you mention "wet notes" several times. Is that something different than my wrist slate? If so, I'd be interested in a link or something that shows what it is.

Scott

Yep, it's very different from your wrist slate.

Here's a link: http://www.sandycovemarine.com/navigation/ritchie_notes.htm

It's simply a notebook for writing on underwater. When you're done writing, you throw it away... Or keep it to add to your logbook.

SeaJay- Thanks for the link. That looks very interesting.

Where/how do you rig it so it's out of the way and still reasonably accessible??

Scott

The "right" way is supposed to be... You stick it in a leg pocket and forget about it until you need it.

Since I dive wet (and am not particularly keen on gluing stuff to my wetsuit) I have a Halcyon "Harness Pocket" on my webbing. It's a pretty good-sized zippered pocket that effectively sits all the way back near my backplate, out of the slipstream.

'Course, I have to be honest, though... I can't remember the last time I used Wet Notes or a slate underwater, so I really question the need...

...But if you use them, that's where they should go...

I actually can't remember the last time I used mine either ;)

I have that same advantage you do in having a long term, single dive buddy that usually knows what I'm thinking anyway.

I've seen, and like the way the pocket on the Halcyon is out of the way back there. I'm assuming you're talking about the same one that holds the raft and/or signaling devices. Considering how infrequently I use the slate, I like the idea of sticking it, or the wet notes back there anyway.

Once I get settled in after the move, a visit to Extreme Exposure is pretty high up on my to do list!

SeaJay is referring to a pocket that he has that attaches to the webbing of his harness. I however sewed my pocket to the thigh of my wetsuit. I'll PM you about dry caves.

Pockets on a wetsuit.. interesting.. I'd forget my wallet, knowing me. That kind of gives me ideas of increasing the functionality of already existing equipment..

Incidentally, Kris is talking about making smaller goody bags for use than the usual large bags you buy at the store.. anyone interested in trying one out?

I'll be doing Venice Beach (alhambra) on Sunday.

Those Ritchie wet notes must be made with gold or something.

The only times I really needed to write something significant down underwater there was no vis. Of course I just dictate to the tender on the com box and let them do the writing.:D
