I hate to bring up a sore subject, but I went to Belize right in the middle of the whole brouhaha about Sport Chalet canceling their local charters. When I left, the situation was still unresolved. And then when I got back, Scubaboard had gone kablooey and the thread was lost in the netherworld. So now I have no idea what ultimately happened.

Would anyone be willing to fill me in?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm ready to go for my Rescue class, and the closest and most convenient place to do this is at my local Sport Chalet. Plus, I know the instructors there, and they do a fabulous job. But if SC really did turn out to screw our local boats, I'd rather not give them my business.

So the second part of this question would be: if the situation with SC and our local boats was never satisfactorily resolved, can anyone suggest where I should take my Rescue class? Someplace reasonably close to Thousand Oaks?

Thanks!

You could try Malibu Dive shop that's not too far from you.

Phil, good point -- and Susan would certainly be my preference for instructor. 'Preciate that!

Make the drive down to Laguna Beach to take the class with Gord Boiven at Laguna Sea Sports. Gord is a former Canadian Coast Guard Instructor....

ICY ICE:
I'm takiing my Rescue at www.hollywoodivers.com, check with kareem or hal.

Check with www.DiveVets.com, they have a special coming up; includes other specialties (inclusive).

I second that, hollywoodivers is definitly one of the best choice. I also hear very good things about Kathy at Dive'n surf in Redondo. There is also Tom in Glendal who teach at the YMCA (scubatomwetzel@earthlink.net)
