There is a new company in La Ceiba offering out beach front and beach view vacation rentals. They are small bungalows to large 2 story homes, some with pools, and are only minutes from the airport and downtown La Ceiba. The pricing of these homes are comparable to some of the nicer local hotels downtown, but with the comfort of privacy and seclusion. Indigo Breeze also offers dive packages with their vacation rentals for those looking for a more inclusive one time rate. I've traveled to Utila many times through the years. I'm headed back very soon but will probably stay overnight in La Ceiba. I'm not very familiar with this town and would appreciate any good advice of where to stay or NOT to stay. Thanks
We are the owners of Island Air, a full service Air Taxi Operator based on Utila. We go to la Ceiba frequently and always stay at the Hotel Gran Paris. They have a nice swimming pool, bar and good restaurant. It is located across the street from the park, next to the Pizza Hut and around the corner from the Dunkin Donuts. There's also a Church's Chicken/Burger King on the other side of the park. Being located in the center of town makes shopping easy and convenient. Prices have gone up a little over the past few years but it is still economical. It is clean and the staff are very helpful.

coz nothing says honduran coastal vacation like pizza hut, dunkin donuts, church's chicken and burger king. lagonia, you forgot to mention applebees :)

if you'd like to try some nice local food i recommend kabasa a garifuna seafood place about 2 mins in a taxi from either hotel paris or the quinta real at the beach (its very walkable but take a taxi as the neighborhood is dark and unpaved). excellent fish and shellfish as well as a fantastic seafood soup, the atmosphere is fun and pretty lively, especially on the weekend evenings. we make it a point to eat there whenever we spend a night in la ceiba, highly recommended for a fun evening with a local flavor!
they'll call a taxi for you when you want to go back to your hotel
