Hi!

My girlfriend and I will stay three weeks in Curacao in January 2023 and wondering which part is best to stay in terms of casual "house reef" like dives? If you also have suggestions for good boat diving operators that would be great as well. I'm an "experienced" diver and would like to add some deeper, current/drift dives as well.

Many thanks in advance!

Take a look at three different types and locations. Lions Dive, Lagun Blou and Allwest Apartments. If any are of interest let me know. I have stayed at all three.

What kind of topside scene are you guys looking at? A stay around Willemstad will differ from one way out in the Westpunt area.

I've only been to Curacao for diving once. Really enjoyed it. If I had 3 weeks, I think I'd spend at least 1 out at Westpunt. Seems like a great chance to try both major sections of the island.

Richard.

See my trip report below. If you are going to be there for 3 weeks, I recommend you rent a car so you can more easily stay/dive either the Willemstad or Westpunt area. In my trip report, you will see we stayed south of Willemstad, doing boat dives with Ocean Encounters, and shore dives with The Dive Bus in the more northwestern sites. Regardless of where you stay, you will have very good diving and a lot of fun.

I'm a Fish!
Hi!

My girlfriend and I will stay three weeks in Curacao in January 2023 and wondering which part is best to stay in terms of casual "house reef" like dives? Good morning @kodo - 1st... thanks for choosing Curacao as your dive vacation destination in 2023!

There might be a lot of opinions of where to stay - but maybe we can assist you in narrowing down the options. @tkaelin is right, All West Apartments and LionsDive Beach Resort (or Sunscape Curacao Resort) have amazing house reefs with easy access not to mention the facilities/infrastructure to support you for boat diving and also for shore diving.

However, from a cost/value perspective, for a 3 week vacation - All West Apartments and Diving offer complete turn-key solutions with excellent "serve yourself" accommodations that include all the diving facilities you will need (tank/locker room, rinsing facilities, easy access to the house reef, amazing west end boat diving, unlimited shore diving, etc...) plus the best sunsets on the island to chill out, while bbq'ing after a fantastic day of diving.

The best part, is you are not limited to just the westend - because their packages include a truck! So you have complete freedom to explore Curacao that can include boat diving/shore diving on the east side too!!

Anyways, I could go with even more options - but instead, please give me shout and we can assist you and your girlfriend in customizing your dive vacation to incorporate all the options you want.

In the meantime, check out the Curacao Dive Travel Guide for local tips and advice!!

Sunny regards from Curacao!

+1 for All West.

... if you don't plan to eat out every day: there aren't too many restaurants in Westpunt and even fewer within walking distance. Just something to be aware of.

Yes, restaurants are limited (3 main restaurants within < 5 min drive and 1 part time resturant ,Sol Food ( yummy pizza), but that is why you need a vehicle. Better than when we were going there 15 years ago when there was 1).

You have a kitchen so we always stockup for breakfast food (eggs, ham, bacon, bread, coffee, butter, jam, fruit, yogurt) and sandwiches (pb&j, ham & cheese) for lunch or a burger or whatever from a restaurant or beach bar we are diving from. We go out for diner most nights but make at home Tacos or Spaghetti (fast and easy) for our occasional at home dinners. We venture to town (far) for dinner once or twice for something different.

You definitely need a vehicle if staying out of town plus it is very reasonable in there package with airport transfers.
