Jim,

Garrett's right, I'm usually on the other side of Happy Valley Rd. so forgot that it goes to Pleasant out by where your mom lives.

As he said, it's probably easiest to go to Scuba Specialties at 43rd Ave & Bell Rd. then double back and take 99th Avenue up to the lake.

Thanks for the list of shops.

Anybody know if any shops rent 100's or 120's ?
Jim Breslin

Hi Jim,

We have a location approx. 15 miles from Sun City Grande. It is on the frontage Road of I-17 just south of Dunlap.

We just ordered some 120's. They will be available to rent after the first of the year.

I do not have my day planner in front of me, but I think my store is having a Lake activity during the time you are here. I'll have to check on Monday. You are more than welcome to carpool/caravan with us to the Lake (you could pick up your cylinder that day and return it on the way home). Maybe that will help.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you all for the information and warm welcome to the Phoenix diving family.

Tina, Thats great that you have some 120's coming in. That way I will not need as much lead to keep me down.

Questions : How deep are most of the dives at the lake ?
Do most divers dive singles ?
Do you use a secondary redundant air supply , if so what size 13, 19 ,30 40 ?
Will I need to bring a dive float/flag ?
I ask these questions so that I know what to send out UPS before I come out to Phoenix.
Thanks again,

Jim Breslin

Most of the lake dives are from shore. We tend to keep them shallower than the darkness. Lately, that's at about 50' +.
Most divers are in singles. You'll see the occasional diver in doubles, but that's for practice only.
Secondary redundant air supply - not usually...unless practicing
Someone here will have a dive float/flag. It is required.

Jim, the lakes in Arizona are all man-made. They're not like the lakes you're used to. These are small lakes with gradual drop offs. Lake Pleasant, where you'll probably be diving, has a max depth of 260' at the river bed. There isn't much to see in these lakes. We just get in them to get wet on a regular basis. Although 120s will be nice for the weighting aspect, airwise you'll only need 80s. Even those can be used for a couple of dives every now and then.
