Thanks for the advice everyone.

I'll be down next Saturday this week, and next weekend.

On the 26th I make Tampa permanent.

Right now I've got a few leads on a few places in St.Petersburg, and Clearwater.

I don't mind a commute. Right now I do 3 1/2 hours a day.:11doh:

Be warned you will mind that commute in the morning. Traffic in Atlanta moves better than traffic in Tampa/ St. Pete. Thats why I live on the east side.

st pete/clearwater to tampa during rush hour is a HOLLY PITA!

during rush hour, it is kinda stop and go from down town heading west, to the Dale Mabry exit, then it picks up. Inbound from west Tampa, same stop and go until Dale Mabry exit, then it picks up a little until down town. But that is subject to change due to a lot of road work that is being done from down town to the Howard Franklin Bridge, widening the road.

I have a 19.6 mile ride each way to work, leaving the house in St.Pete off 54th Ave. N. at 6:30am and arriving at the north end of Tampa International 20 minutes later. Going home at 4:00pm is only 5 minutes longer. On the way home every afternoon traffic into Tampa is backed up almost to the hump on the HF. In the morning traffic into Tampa starts slowing down just before Dale Mabry.

I consider myself very lucky.

yes you are, coming home from St Pete to N Tampa in the afternoons is SLOOOOOOOOOW. The backed up traffic on HF, the off ramp for the Vets, then the traffic up around TIA. Glad I don't go that way anymore. Now I have to deal with McMullen Booth traffic from Largo to Oldsmar

Good luck with your house search. I'm commuting from Pinellas Cnty over to the I75 & MLK intersection, but they let me work from 10 to 7 so the commute isn't that bad (except for the gas :(

Hey Junko there are some really nice new apartments about 3 miles from your work. I live about 4 miles away if that. This is a pretty nice area to be in.

thanks--I might look into that. My problem though is that I hate packing and moving. I can't decide whether to move one more time to another rental, and then buy something when prices drop further, or do the commute and only have to move one time.
