I'm going to be living north of venice (about an hour) for few months this spring. The two areas I've found that I should check out for a weekend dive are Croatia and Sorrento. Any more advice on these areas or better ones? I'm going to be using my Eurail pass to get around to any dive sites. Advice? I'm looking for guided tours.
Rovinj (Rovigno) in Istria peninsula, probably two hours driving from the place where you'll be located. And one of the best diving centers in area http://www.scuba.hr/

Mekkelo
It's got to be Portofino,I was there last summer and enjoyed my dive very much. Look up "Abyss" dive shop in Rapello. Nice folks good and professional. Another neat place is Crete if you are going to get that far south.
