We are taking a cruise jan13-18 to cozumel then grand cayman. My gf isnt a diver, so i am only going to be able to squeeze 1 2tank dive in. I have 8 hours on cayman so i was told i have time to take a ferry to little cayman. Which would you choose...why? Thx

how experienced are you?
The boat ride over to little cayman might be very long and not worth it. What time do the boats leave from little cayman for dives?
I would think diving there on Grand Cayman would be much less of a hassle and only take up half the day. Cozumel would be easy to get to dive sites and not take the whole day, also.

The round trip by ferry is about 200 miles so LC is not an option.

I'd give the GF enough $$ to do some shopping at each port and then go dive both of them. On GC you can walk/taxi to the south of town and shore dive Eden Rock.

Thanks for the info. The little lady in exchange for the dive is getting a half day spa session on the ship. Which is way....more than the dive :) so 1 day is all that i can squeeze out. I heard that Cozumel reefs are very easy to get to.

It takes the Nekton boat (which is slow) 12 hours to make the crossing one way, You won't be able to do in a day!

Seeing as it is only a 2-tank dive, I would do the Cozumel option. You can get a good sense of both places off one trip, but seeing as you get only 8 hours in Cayman, I would have to vote Cozumel. Maybe you can grab a little snorkeling in or something in Cayman with the gf.. bonding time or something.. :-)

LC by far-----but it's 80+ miles to LC from GC...I'd check out that 'ferry' time if it's by boat???....something doesn't add up........btw, see my pics below, most were taken on LC this past July.....You can also get to all my LC pics, land & UW, thru that link(LC's albums have LC in their titles).........

What ferry? The supply barge?

Little Cayman isn't an option for you. Arranging boat dives on GC (other than the cruise ship excursion) depends on your schedule. You might consider heading to one of the shore diving facilities (just cab it) and treating it as your base for the day. Perhaps Sunset House, you could dive, eat, hang out at the bar, it's not far from the shopping and stuff downtown. Or Turtle Reef, the Cracked Conch restaurant is there, a bar on the pier, and you could visit the turtle farm.
