I just don't log dives
I'm looking to buy a pair of black XTX50 second stages. I can't find them anywhere. In the past I had ordered from scubastore.com, but it doesn't look like they are carrying Apeks anymore. Anyone know a source for separate first and second stage Apeks regs?

There's been a lot of talk about the HOG regs.
I own 3 of their 2nd stages and for all intent and purpose they are identical to the Apeks ATX 50 with an improved purge cover.

These are for my wife. I recently bought this setup for myself. If I buy her something different, she'll think she is getting the short straw even if it is better. So, it needs to be Apeks.

Good question...

Also let her know that the zeagle brand is a great reg too.:D Very similiar to apex, but a few pennies cheaper:cool2:

As this "source" becomes more publicized, the U.S. arm of Aqualung/Apeks will consider this European retailer a threat to domestic sales and the "source" will dry up...just as Scubastore.com did. Or perhaps I'm just paranoid that big brother is looking over our shoulders. :)

Don't get me wrong, though. I think it's great that this kind of info is being shared. However, it might be safer to communicate this info via PM rather than on an open/searchable forum.

scubastore.com (Dive Inn) still carries Apeks.... (and Aqualung).

You just have to "change your country" from the United States to another country to see them.

why? dunno :idk:

But I bet it has something to do with Aqualung America and their price controls and allowing dealers to sell on the internet. They prob got pressure from Aqualung in France (HQ) or their parent company to stop selling/shipping to the US.

In order to place an order from scubastore.com, you first have to pick a country (upper right corner of website). If you pick the US, then Aqualung/Apeks products aren't shown. If you try to change countries to one that lets you see it, then you can't ship to the US.

Another case of Aqualung controlling pricing, which caused the CUSTOMER/CONSUMER TO LOSE.

Buy the Hog... don't support companies like Aqualung.

This information is spot on!

If you want to read about what those companies finally said in an email reply look here:

Dive-Oz Discussion Forums - We've Gone Virtual!! - Buying Aqualung / Apeks via internet

It is about time that these large companies realised that these kind of business practices will not be tolerated anymore - vote with your dollars and purchse elsewhere like HOG regs as has been suggested.

Thats what I'm buying!
