Paco once bubbled...
Is Anthony's Key Resort close to the Coco View?
No, Anthony's Key is on the north side.
Click here for a map of roatan, showing most of the resorts.
As you can see, the south side is more protected from storms, although not immune!
CCV Resort itself is a large reason we return year after year. It's a family run resort that was developed
by divers
for divers. Even the meals are scheduled around the diving! It has diving available 24 hours a day...literally. If you want to dive at 2am, just grab a tank and go. Of course there are safety factors involved but nonetheless, it's easy to dive any time you want. Prefer shore diving? No problem. A smooth beach entry is just a short walk from your gear area.
And the diving has always been great. The visibility isn't as great as in some places, say like Cozumel, because the south side doesn't get the currents. But I'll take that 80+ visibility any day! In the 'front yard' of CCV you have a freighter ship wreck, the Prince Albert, and two vertical walls that are amazing. There's nothing to compare to doing an early morning dive on a wall as you watch the sun come up and the day creatures waking up to begin their day. Back to shore in time for breakfast and catch the first 2-tank boat dive at 9am to start your day.
Yep, I'll go back...year after year after year......
