well Windminstrel, thats a pretty good question but, the answer would depend on what knifes you have bought. Why the need for two by the way? anyway,If your knife is a larger knife and you are a bit of a scuba samuri, it would be most practicle on your leg, the inner calf is sometimes easier accesable than the outer, but you may get irritated if you end up kicking it alot.
if its a smaller knife sometimes it is possible to cable tie it to the back of your guages or your bcd shoulder strapp on the right side,
there are a few ideas for you, but remember every one is different. there should be somewhere on you and your kit that is the right place for you to put your knife.
just be comfortable and happy. Hope that helps a little,
Dive happy
Niko ;)

Yup, the good old days of having a machete strapped to your leg are gone, keep it streamlined, keep it tidy, keep it tucked away but sharp and accessible if you can.

depends on what kind of diving you are doing....I of course, carry two. I have the "machete" strapped to my leg, right calf-outside. I can easily drop my right hand, flick the release and pull it out. I keep a lanyard on it and as soon as I touch bottom, I hang it on my right wrist and cinch it down. If I accidentally drop it or lay it down, it stays with me. I use it for prying, probing, tapping, sometimes I use it to stab into the bottom as an anchoring point (strong current!)...etc. It is NOT real sharp as I tend to ocassionally grab it by the blade.

The other one is a small VERY sharp knife, with the line cutter groove that I have zip-tied to the left side of my BC, on the shoulder adjustment strap (hilt down). I can easily reach over and across with my right hand and flip the release one-handed. I keep this on one of those coil lanyards in case I drop it too. Since I do a lot of grubbing on the bottom, the first is more of a prospector's tool, the second I use as a back-up and keep it sharp enough to cut through line, rope, nets, attacking creatures, obnoxious dive partners, etc.

As I said it depends on the kind of diving you do. Since I do a lot of grubbing on the bottom, it works for me. Just remeber the old saying - "Your knife is your life."

I only carry one knife (for the kind of diving I do) and it is a little paring knife in a sheath I made from extra weight belting. I just folded the weight belting over and hand stiched it to make the sheath and the knife stays in by friction. The snapped the tip off the little paring knife so I can't accidently poke myself but I keep the blade razor sharp. The sheath with knife is on my waist strap.

I also carry EMT shears clipped off in my left pocket to cut such things a SS wire which we find occassionally.

Large knife on lower left leg.

Smaller thing clipped to BC hose.

As of yet luckily neither have been used in anger although the large knife is used on surface to cut shot line rope to the right size and occasionally to cut an apple or lunch :)

There you go! Forgot about those...we appropriated about 2 dozen pair of those things from our local military connection (came with a bunch of first-aid stuff they "donated"). Those things are fantastic, hvy duty stainless steel and they'll cut through some pretty heavy stuff. They're great in your boat too!
