Hi,

I am looking to get 100% O2 fills at around 2800 psi. A booster for me is not in the works at the moment.

A couple shops can bring me in at around 2000psi, but 2800 would be awesome...even 2600.

Institute of Diving in Glen Ellyn said they can go to 2400...but that is some what of a drive for me.

Any other shops I'm missing?

thanks,

Most people fill O2 tanks by transfilling off of storage bottles obtained from gas suppliers. Since the gas suppliers deliver O2 in tanks at around 2200 psi, that is the max you can get without a booster. Boosting O2 is both expensive and somewhat hazardous so few want to deal with it. Of course, a 2000 psi fill in a 40 CF bottle is usually sufficient for most dives.

Thanks for the input Dale. I'm looking at having 13CF's filled. I am most likely going to get 19CF's instead so I dont have to get them filled every week. At least I can get more volume if I can't get the pressure I want.

If its not to far to the north for ya.
Scuba Systems in Skokie can fill o2 for you. They have a booster :)

Scuba Systems is a hike for me, but good to know they have a booster. Thanks for that.

Duane, what price range have you seen them at? The two I've seen are around $2k..base.

I'm trying not to get to crazy with the equipment. I think I've done enough this year as it is. :)

AFIK Elmer's Water Sports ( 2-3 mi from Scuba Systems) also does O2, and runs a booster, so if your making the drive shop for price! Another option, as mentioned would be getting your own K(s) or J(s) of O2, AFIK PPo2 Diver sells transfill whips.

I've seen baby boosters range from $1500 used to $4000 new. I've considered getting one, mostly for O2 and Argon. The baby boosters wouldn't be a good application for boosting helium into doubles. A bigger booster would be required. If you think you will have a large need for it, you might as well invest in one now. Especially if you have to drive all over heck looking for a shop with a booster.

I've been talking with Rick Inman regarding banking industrial O2 tanks..330cf. Seems fairly simple and cost per fill works out to be something like $2.00 or so.

However for the short term I'm getting (2) low pressure faber 27's for my O2 tanks. Same length as my current cylinders, just fatter. If I got them boosted up to 2600, that could last me awhile and make the drive worth it. :)
