I just don't log dives
Some posts just crack me up.

Must be the drugs these days.

I HATE THIS LEG THING.

Man.

I'm all about it could have been much worse. I am more thankful than I can fully convey that its not a whole lot worse. And I know a lot of people have been through a lot more trauma than this. OK. This is my whine, lets focus on this gimp. Thank you.

Went to the Dr. today. Took out the staples, said I'm progressing nicely. Told me the swelling will be around for a long time - maybe a year or more. Said I'd have almost complete mobility within 6 months.

Also said I can fly (business) within the next 3 - 4 weeks. Said I can drive next week (will work on that THIS weekend to be sure... in a big vacant lot some place.)

As to diving, he said to take it slow. Although the Tibia is 100% with the titanium rod, the Fibula still has 3 fractures that need to heal. My ankle and knee are the question marks right now. If I keep them flexible, and add a little more weight each week as I gimp around on the crutches, I could be back in the water by end of October.

We'll see.

Good news all. I'm just hating this sitting on my ace, doing exercises, eating, reading, etc. I'm an active person - hyperactive really. I miss drumming, diving, and fishing and stuff.

OK - whine is over.

Back to daytime freekin' TV. I think there's some Justine Bateman show on now wif her all laid up in a hospital bed. Looks interesting. She was hot once, right?

Ugh. I need a life.

Dude, I think them sugar mamas r out looking for sugar daddios with a titanium rod :D

Ken, bro, did I miss it? what happened???? I know what you mean though; I was out-of-commission a while back due to surgery. There's only so much TV one can take!!

Cant you still fish with a busted leg??

I missed THE story as well.

3 day weekend - Ken and Jaye (current sugar momma ;) ) and we're going up to the Sierra's for some R&R before she goes back to school (she's a first grade teacher.)

Our idea of R&R is fly fishing on an alpine lake at 8500 feet, hanging in the sun, catching trout and just being mellow.

On 9/2 Sat (Kenny rises early to fish, Jaye not so much) at about 6:00 Am I'm up and catching fish on this pond. They're not the monsters I'm looking for, so I go to a little footbridge to cross the stream to get to the other side of the pond. I take a step onto the footbridge, and its covered with ice. My legs spin one way, my body spins the other.

SNAP - my right tib / fib fractures. A triple break on the fib, and a long diagonal break on the Tib. I splint my legs together with a towel, get carried up to the road and the ambilance takes me down the hill.

Surgery that afternoon - and a titanium rod is inserted into my Tibia and held in place with some screws.

Yesterday I got the staples out, and I'm presetly hobbling around on crutches. Putting a little more weight on it every day.

I have vert limited ankle mobility. And my knee is tough to flex, but everyday I work on it, and little by little its gonna come back.

By end of October, I should be OK, mobility wise. We'll see if I can take the weight of the Scuba Rig then.

That's the scoop. No driving until next week, lots of sitting around and reading and just trying to stay positive about all of this.

You could always spend hours on the board, answering the same old questions that keep coming up!! ;)

Sorry to hear of your break. A few years ago my grandma did something like that on an icy bridge. It was new years and we were all in fancy dress at a party, were walking home, me and my 2 sisters decided to slide across the bridge as we could see it was icy. Before we could stop her, my grandma (about 76 at the time) was trying to follow us, misjudged the bridge and fell down. She only broke her wrist, but we took her to the ER (a 40 min plus drive - we lived in the sticks), which was a sight having all these people in fancy dress waiting for her as doctors and nurses passed by! ;)

Strangely enough i have never broken a bone or twisted anything (guess i am made of rubber) even falling several times my own height and onto things that others would break themselves on - lucky i guess.

I don't recommend it.

That's a great story Ken. Hope you get well soon.

PS- we should start an injury thread just for fun, so we can show off, because we all know CHICS DIG SCARS!

HHMMMM Maybe I'll start the thread now.

How's it going to affect your double bass drumming style? Any timeline prognosis?
