How's it going to affect your double bass drumming style? Any timeline prognosis?

I get hurt, and MO's are coming out of the sky. I hate turning these things down - but I can't play. Its my right leg/foot, and its gonna be awhile. I probably won't start working behind the drums until mid-october, and probably won't be in shape to play until November.

I moved some sticks and my congas into the house (from the studio) so I can keep my hands and muscles in shape... but my leg is toast for a bit. A left leg wouldn't be as big of an issue... but wif out a right leg, a right handed drummer is out of the game...

Pray for me, bro. Next week I'll be doing some singing, but no playing for a while. Its killing me. More than not diving.

You got it man...

I had to weenie out of the retreat...:(

I fly to Toronto tommorow morning on business then a two hour drive, back tuesday just in time to jump in the car to...drive two hours for another show the next morning...can you say yuck. It just wasn't happening to add a newborn to the scenario and do the 4AM wakeup call down and back in a day thing...I would have been a complete zombie...and I wouldn't dive with me...:D

We'll have to plan the Ken's recovery, Scott and Brian celebrate life, Ron and Co. annual reunion PNW tour for this spring.

Maybe the water up there will be warmer than the 47 - 51 it was last September.

I'm a So Cal... that's just too darn cold.

My light will work this time! No more diving by the red-dot of my Scout!

Peace

K

Ron and I will just light your way with our 18-21 watt HID's...no worries, you'll have ample visibility and they warm up the water too!

Ouch- that's gotta hurt! Broken bones and no sugar momma!!

I'm my boyfriend's sugar momma right now.... we're going to Vegas next week for a conference he's going to, and I paid boooooookoooo bucks for a nice hotel instead of some creepy place he was going to put us up at. (besides - I get to go kick butt at poker while he's working...lol)

I digress....back to broken bones....I broke the same leg twice - I can still feel one of the breaks now and then. Definitely take it easy, because it takes a lot longer to heal than you would think.

So- PNW? Planning an Alaska trip any time soon?

Mo2vation.
I hope you get well and back in the water soon!
I watched the history of the world over and over on the History Channel while recovering from back surgery. You will survive the accident, no such gaurantee on the daytime tv though!
Good luck and get well soon.

Joe

I was wondering what the "Robo-Leg Gimp City" thing was all about. Man that just sucks! Hope you get well and back in the game soon. Hopefully you'll be banging on those DW's soon (saw your web site). I played in a few bands with the same drummer for years and he had a green sparkle DW kit. That dude had knee surgery and he's back killin' it in the club scene around here. Crazy world. Things will get better. Look on the bright side when you hit the water for the first few dives you can wear Split Fins to "protect" your leg and no one can give you SH*&%T! :)

Ken, so I guess that trip over here next month to do a couple dives is out??:D
So sorry buddy.
Get well soon.

Arnaud would still razzz me I'm sure. Nope. I gotta get strong enough for the Turtles.

Tomorrow I'm going to the inlaws and do some pool work. I'm a water person (fishing, diving, swimming, etc) and just being dry this long is killing me.

Its truly amazing to see the progress day by day with robo-leg. Every day I get a little more mobility, a little more strength, a little more stamina.

Today is three weeks since the unfortunate incident.

Last night, when Jaye got home we walked around the block (she walking, me crutch-walking) TWICE... foot wasn't swelling too much, so I just did two laps. Its always a great thing when we can walk together in the evenings - just talking and hanging with my best friend.

Then, get this: we went on our first date in 3 weeks. I DROVE!!!! I took us out to a nice dinner near an outside mall here in LA (Century City), and after we walked around, shopped a bit (nothing fits me any more...everything is too big these days) and just had a great, mellow evening.

Big week for me this week. Started driving, will be swimming, back to dating my wife and getting out of this friggen chair and out of the house. Day by day I feel it getting stronger and healing. It changes every day - its amazing. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made.

PS: Start "drum therapy" today. My ankle is the part that's taking the longest to recover. Probably because of the two screws. So I'm setting up the drums in the studio and starting to work the pedal this afternoon to build in flexibility and strength.... I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck in the upcomming week! Sonds like your right on track. You'll be rockin' the Turtles in no time. Keep bangin' on the drums too! You'll be hittn' "Good Times Bad Times" triplets in no time.
