Can anyone tell me the advantages or disadvantages of having your regulator serviced at the end of the dive season instead of before. The reason I ask is because i purchased my regulator setup last september and now the annual service will be due at then od the season rather then the start? is this a bad thing? Any advice would be appreciated.

Well it may be a toss-up making the solution to dive all year!

Doing it post season gives you a jump on getting any corrosive deposits out of there before real damage happens

Some of the finer adjustments can be offset while a regulator is in storage. I would be more concerned if the idle time were years rather than months.

Some regulators are more sensitive to being idle than others. If you can let us know what you have others may be able to focus their response.

Have it done post season to get any of the build up out and also to get a jump on it for next season. Pre-season service times can be longer due to the volume of gear coming in. This way your not trying to get it serviced 2 days before your trip. That happens alot.
In the pre season take it to your shops pool if you can and give it a test run. Then you can get any tweaks taken care of if needed.

If you was dealing with me. I would do it post season and then bring it in right brfore you start to diving again for a check and test. I do this for free. It dose not take long. You are in and out.:D

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I know the best solution would be just dive all year. However I am still collecting gear and have not purchased any gear suitable for colder temps yet. It will take awhile but I will get enough gear to dive all year. I just have to be careful with the funds my wife is already ready to ban me from Cabelas and Scubatoys both. We both go to those two places and we spend alot every trip.
