I'm a Fish!
Whats the one thing you always forget? I'm packing to leave for two weeks, and I want to make sure that I don't forget anything! :)

Kayla:)

rope, duct tape, an extra tarp, more batteries than you think you need, an extra blanket (can double as a tarp in an extreme emergency), a small first aid kit (band-aids are also tape), matches or a lighter or both, bug spray, sunscreen, burn aftercare (in case the sunscreen doesn't do it), toilet paper, an old newspaper in case you need help with the campfire, a couple big jugs of water, ear plugs (for noisy neighbors), don't overpack on clothes (1 weekend = 1 pair of shorts and 2 t-shirts), emergency feminine gear, a hammer or small sledge.... that's all I can remember right now.... I'm sure I'll think of other stuff.

Waterproof matches, bug spray & toilet paper.

Make a list and check it twice (sorry I'm humming a Christmas song here) bring your list and after camping check against it as you pack your things so you do not leave anything at camp. Don't forget to recycle.

Deck of cards, small radio (don't forget your batteries), Yahtzee or small board game (nothing complicated), volley ball, baseball and glove, yard darts, Smore ingredients, Jiffy Pop, extra flashlights for flashlight tag, antibacterial soap, good book or magazine, favorite pillow, small broom or rake to remove ground debris before putting tent up, trash bags, paper plates and paper cups, camping tool or knife and a small saw or hatchet, flip-flops or shower shoes (aqua socks work well), I always take a screened house but if you don't have one citronella candles, sleeping bag for two :), bird and squirrel food, bungee cords (they help with all kinds of needs especially securing ice chest to keep raccoons out), rubber bands or plastic ties, a small shepherds hook is great for holding lanterns, gosh I could go on. We have a few hard case boxes that gear stays packed in so we just load them up. Lots of fun food and drinks. R

OH, Oh and patience. : )

Don't forget your map and maybe a compass. If you have kids, plastic strips or yarn to tie onto trees to help find their way to the site. Glow sticks are fun too.

the no rinse antibacterial hand rub, a few of the cheap caribeaners you can get from home depot and like that (I use them for hanging a battery powered lantern in my tent, also good for securing stuff to your pack if you hike, cheap and easy and pretty useful), big DITTO on the bungee cords or some raccoon plan.... geez maybe it's all been covered now....

OH!!!! A rainsuit or poncho, I much prefer a rainsuit, you have not been truly miserable until you've been camping in the rain and don't have a way to stay dry except sit in the car.

The tarp and rope you mentioned earlier will work well for rain cover; and if you bring a rake you can prop the middle up. Also, folding chairs for seating if a table is not on site.
