I descend in the hoizontal position constantly correcting buoyancy to go down no quicker than I can manage my ears. If it's to a significant depth it's noice to keep your buddy in sight too. To start I dump air from my bottom right valve and exhale.

So far I'm doing vertical ascents.

How do you correct Buoyancy, I thought this was done at eyeline in the water with an empty BCD and full lungs of air. Once breathing out you should start to descend.

When horizontal do you swim of just descend.

Im still ver new to this so sorry
 
You should be adding air in SMALL bursts to your bc as you descend. This helps to control your rate and allow you to get neutral quickly once you reach your desired depth. This works in either the horizontal or vertical position. If you don't need to add any air, or are having to pull yourself down, or in some cases having to kick hard to go down you are probably going to be light on the way up and perhaps have difficulty maintaing your safety stop. By the same token if you're too heavy you'll know it quick and then you may need to add more than small bursts. Unless being in the muck or sediment on the bottom up to your knees is cool for you.:-)
 
Depends on what the vis is. Both ways work equally as well so use what every you are comfortable with. Buoyancy is a constent thing to work on throughout the dive. It's not a one time adjustment.

That's a buoyancy check done at the surface with 500 psi in your tank to establish your correct weighting. To me, correct buoyancy is being able to hover neutral while in a horizontal position. The fin pivot is supposed to demonstrate this. I usually descend the first couple of feet vertically, then go horizontal adding small amounts of air to my BC until I stop about a foot above the bottom. It takes practice.
 
I descend horizontally and ascend vertically until I'm at my safety stop depth, which is typically 6m (20ft) and then I remain horizontal for the remainder of the dive.
 
I'll decend the first dozen feet or so vertically and move to horizontal. I ascend in reverse. I find it easier to quickly look around in a circle for boats if I'm vertical.
 
I descend and ascend horizontal. It's been a long time since I've had to look around for boats while ascending. I suppose it would be easier with a buddy facing you in the water looking behind you while you look behind him then both check your sides.
