I just started learning to use a 3D printer and decided to go with an AutoDesk product for design work. I am using Fusion 360 and while it is not like what I was used to designing with, I find it to be very powerful for a free piece of software. It takes some time to get used to the constraints and how Fusion wants you to draw things but I do love parametric modeling and the freedom to make changes it gives you.
