if you put all that weight to the lower end of the tank you should be fine I think.

The mid pressure (3300 psi) steel 72's are VERY short tanks. When mounted where I can reach the valve, assuming I am shoving the bottom up as far as I can, the bottom of the tank is even with the bottom of my bc. My weight belt sits a few inches lower still. Any weight on the tank would tip me even more forward. I have found that a few pounds on the ankles trim me out very well.

Hmm, maybe I should invent a "heavy" fin strap that is DIR approved. Lead core rope wraped by the steel spring might be just the ticket.

That's what I used as well when using a drysuit. It's to make it less likely that you will get inverted and turn into a runaway balloon, and if you do get inverted it's easier to right yourself. If you're new to drysuit diving it's recommended.

They work great for Pool workouts! I use one on each leg and wear a 12lb weight belt do 1000 yards 3 or 4 times a week! Or just consider yourself light on your feet!

If you look very, very carefully, you'll see that one of my buddies has added 2 lb weights into the middle "ventillation" slot on each Jet-style fin, which I think covers both worlds: he gets to look cool while nobody questions his "ankle" weights. :D

I love the idea of attaching the weights to the fin itself. My first though would be inside the foot pocket as not to affect the performance of the fin itself. Sounds like your friend has come up with a winning system. :cool3:

Yes, they are LP72s, and I don't know how I'd put ten pounds off the end of the tanks. My weight belt is pretty much below the bottom bolt, anyway. I did use a 6 lb half v-weight off the bottom bolt, and it didn't seem to make any difference. I have just given up on the tanks. They have no advantage over the 85s and the 85s trim like a dream.

Youir cupcake has a stern expression and leaves me feeling you're less than completely approachable.

Check how we did it , the first set is LP72 with 10lb, the second LP85 with 8lb ;)

I was trying to find a better picture on how they are positioned but could not. :dontknow: But the weight is pretty much sitting on the low butt area.

Speakin' of which ... one cool use I found for my old ankle weights was as a channel weight for doubles. Two ankle weights fits nicely between the bands. Of course, you have to cut those stupid buckles off first ... ;)

elan, that's clever; looks like you custom fabricated that weight? Making something like that would probably do it, but I don't want to solve the problem that much :)
