Blue Angel has been our home away from home for several years. It's one of the few remaining small hotel/dive ops resorts that sit right on the water. It has all the stuff the larger resorts have, just in a more, quaint and friendly setting...like a lot of places on the island, especially the smaller one's, you become part of the family pretty quick.
Just about exactly one mile South of town, we and many guests often walk to town. It has only 22 rooms, is 4 stories. All rooms are large, with safes, a/c, mini-fridges and large balconies...all facing the ocean.
The dive op is great, attentive DM's and captains, all the boats have had new, more powerful and fuel efficient motors in the past 2-3 years. 6-packs as well as large boats if you prefer. Morning, afternoon, twilight and night dives all available.
The restaurant over the dive shop has very good food and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner...I think breakfast is included with your stay, or at least on scheduled dive days...not exactly sure what the current rules are.
No beach, per say, on the property it's self, but there is a nice, small pool that never seems to be very busy. And the long stretch of Villablanca beach is right next door if you absoulutly have to have sand in your trunks. ;-)
Some of the best shore diving on the island is right out in front of the hotel, the sting ray enclosure next door has been a blessing in disguise, at first much hated, but it has turned out to be a great magnet for many critters and a wonderful day and night shore dive.
Street noise has NEVER been an issue with us, although that sort of thing doesn't bother us anyway. And as far as the birds "screeching" in the morning...like the sound of the scuba tanks clanking as they are being delivered and the ocean lapping on the shore outside, that is just a sign that I am "home" and it's time to get up and get wet!!
