What's the water temperature like in Lauderdale area?

I'll be around broward county for spring break. What's the water temperature like? Also I've never dove the keys before. Is it all boat dives or can I shore dive in the keys?

There is no "pretty reef" shore diving in the Keys.
There is, in Broward County.

The Keys means boat dives, or kayak dives, but it is a long stroke out to Hens and Chickens and other assorted patch reefs with typically milky viz in the 15'-25' depth range.
Water temp was 74f today and last weekend off of Pompano.
It may rise or fall about 2 degrees F in the next month, and the warming trend will commence at the beginning of April.

The last three days have been 75F at 100 feet and about 77F at about 65 feet.

like Chug said -- temps will be decent -- a 3mm wouldn't be a bad idea - i prefer a full for warmth & pest avoidance.
viz varies...

plenty plenty plenty of shore dives in Ft Lauderdale. & boat dives....

Thanks! I'll pack my 3mm. Are there any man-o-wars or jellyfish around this year? I remember going last year and there were a bunch.

beached dived last weekend and wore a 3mm with a hood and lasted 90min before i got cold..hard to say about the man of war and jellies....i think they are like us and prefer warm/ hot water.

jellies are hit or miss --- but they are one of the reasons i like a full suit. and even though i DO stay off off the coral - esp fire coral -- better safe than sorry.
