One thing I noticed was that there were several nice new diving area signs and brand new fences at the diving area. It didn't look to me like they are phasing out diving, but I could be wrong. They were also building what looked like nice rental trailers with good size decks adjacent to the sub/Thora Ann shore just across the road.

Income from diving is seasonal. Income from trailer sites can be year-round. Makes sense to maximize that steady cashflow. Less work too.

I was at Pearl last weekend. And yes, the fishing has increased. The number of paddle boats has increased...even boats with electric motors. And there was even a pontoon with a 5HP gas motor out there. When I mentioed it to the dive shop they said it had a rubber prop. I don't care if it was rubber or aluminum...it's gotta hurt when it hits you. People were fishing near the just about every wreck. Being a new diver, it was hard enough keeping my buoyancy right and now I have to worry about tiny fish hooks where the visibility was about 6ft.

They did put up new signs and had plenty of port-a-potties out there. They also "moved" the road for the enterance to the diving areas. Seems like they put in a few bucks. But then again they did raise their entrance fees and the air fill cost.

I think it's time to expand my horizons and mayhe head up to Racine or to Haigh. They might be colder but they can't be any worse.

you could probly skip racine quarry. last time i looked in it i didnt see anything living.
