30cf cylinder, mgf 3/74, last hydro 10/97, has air in it... what's the odds it will pass a current hydro? worth the trouble? or will they even bother to test it?

Steel or Al? If it is steel should be no problem. If it is an Al made by Catalina it should be good, if it is not a Catalina chances are slim to none that it will even get to hydro.

see the sticky at the top of this form "Is my tank made from the bad alloy."

Certainly not a Catalina made cylinder they did not start production until the late 80s. 1988/9 to be more exact.
