What's the diving like in St. Johns?

The thread on places to stay and eat in St. Johns was right up my alley. I very much like to combine good living and good diving! Apparently, St. Johns does have really good lving on lots of levels. What the diving like there? I've dived many sites including the Rhone in the BVI. Should I assume that diving off St. Johns is as good?
