Here is a link to the various Zeagle 2nd stages (this is the octo page, but you can see the various 2nd's)

Zeagle Express Zeagle Octopus Envoy Octopus ZX Octopus CW Octopus Z Octopus Octo-Z

The ZX 2nd stage is used on both the Flathead VI and Flathead XP. The difference is in the 1st stage (Flathead VI has an environmental seal).

The Envoy and ZX 2nds are the pre-2009(?) models, the CW and Z are the models that replaced them. The ZX and Z are balanced adjustable 2nd's, the Envoy and CW are the same 2nd without the external adjustment knob (but they retain the venturi lever). The Envoy and CW can be upgraded to to the ZX or Z by adding the knob (if you search the zeagleexpress site, you'll see this). The adjusting knob allows the diver to vary breathing resistance in the 2nd; with the Envoy and CW the resistance is set by the tech when the regulator is tuned at service time.

I have a couple of Flathead VI's with the ZX 2nd, and they are great regs. I believe the newer "Z" model 2nd that replaced the ZX is just a cosmetic change (new spiffy front cover, same internals).

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

The basic difference between the ZX and the XP second stage, is the ZX has a heatsink for cold water, and the XP does not.
