Whats the cheapest Hoseless Computer?

I was also looking at the Atom, but went for the Atmos Elite instead. During the week I was looking at computers, at least 3 different LDSs said that they have had more recent returns because of malfunctions with the Atom than other computers. Many people say Suunto is the most reliable, but they are a lot more expensive and conservative, but you get what you pay for.

Im new but my mentality is that I hate having to RE_BUY equipment, I like to buy it right the first time indeed.

I am looking into the Atom with transmitter for $699, that seems like a steal as it seems to do all that my instructos Suunto D9 does, except maybe compass? Which I have no problem having a regular compass, im not sure I need a digital one.

JCF- as for supporting local Dive Shops, its tough for us because we are in East Gilbert, the nearest shop to us is like 45miles and thats Scuba Specialties. There is another play Paradise Scuba but from our experience at the Lake yesterday with one of its instructors we would never go there now.

To answer your question: Yes, the Atom pretty much does everything the Suunto does except the digital compass, for quite a bit less money. The D9 is a luxury item... a BMW, if you will, vs. an Accord. Both get you there, but the BMW has more bling. And requires more green...

Feedback on the digital compass is yes, it's neat, but it shouldn't replace a regular compass if you are diving in an area where compasses are actually useful.

So I'd go for the Atom, given the choice. Cheapest good quality wireless AI I can recall seeing.
