I'll be headed north after diving the Keys. Plan to stop somewhere between cocoa and daytona. What would be the best location to get in a dive or 2?

I prefer wrecks (non tech dives) but am open to what ever. Shore diving would be nice to save a little money.

I know some responses will be to go further south towards Palm Beach, but that isn't far enough north for my schedule.

If there isn't anything good in the area I chose then I will probably head towards Orlando because we have some friends that live there. Maybe I'll do the Epcot dive again.

easy answer. JUPITER
some great wrecks, some awesome BIG sealife and some great diving.

my personal recommendation is capt SL8r charters in Jupiter (www.jupiterscubadiving.com). Tell 'em Paul Seldes sent you. and no...I do not work there nor am I affiliated with them. It is just a really awesome boat and crew.

let me know when you might be there as I dive with them fairly often.

for a shore dive, check out Blue Heron Bridge. One of the top 20 shore dives in the US. Just be sure to check the tides as you can only dive the slack tide an hour or so before high tide.

Yea, don't drive past Jupiter & WPB. Dive there, then drive up. 2nd for Sl8tr as well. Do the Bridge and Sl8tr :)

there really is not much north. no good shore dives to speak of and the diving is colder, darker and less interesting. though there are a couple of good wrecks off of Daytona.

Jupiter and SL8R is well worth it. you won't regret it

Sheeper, isn't there some shore diving in Vero. It's still a little south of Cocoa but closer than Jupiter.

Or is there a Florida spring that may be a possibility for him?

Cold dark and uninteresting. That sounds great to an Indiana diver.

I really cant do jupiter. I will be in transit heading up to savannah in the rv and will just be stopping for a day or so. If there is no diving to speak of then I won't dive.

Checked out Daytona. I think that would work for us. It's a big enough place to stop with the motorhome and has a few wrecks at 80fsw.

I do not think there is too much saltwater diving going on up in the Daytona/Cocoa area this time of year.
But, I would recommend that you contact Spruce Creek SCUBA in Port Orange.
If anything is going on up there this time of year, they know about it.

Chug
Has never doved in seawater north of Jupiter.

It will be close to April/May when I finally get over that way. Just trying to make a general outline of the route

Pepper Park. I think this is Vero, but it has been a while. Shore dives, series of 2-3' ledges. Easy in and out. And if there are non-divers with you, the SEAL museum is in the area.:coffee:
