I give it a 3...ish. I have met, and enjoyed the company of a fiew people I found here, and am glad for that. Otherwise, it's not onlike any other aspect of life. Like any buisness it is harsh to newcomers, and run by a number of bullies that let you in, or keep you out at their will. It's a past time at best, and is certainly not basic to life.

Please,

if you ever feel bullied or intimidated, spammed or flamed use the "Report Bad Post" link that is in the bottom left of every single post. We want ScubaBoard to be as friendly as possible, and frankly we probably do that better than any diving forum that I know.

This is set at my home page. So I read everymorning, and I am online at work all day so I read about a total of 5 hours at work.

I gave it a 5. I agree with what NWGrateful Diver said. I also feel that you can't express your opinions as freely as you used to. If you do, expect to be flamed. For instance, if you in any way support your LDS, expect to hear a whole slew of stories that LDS are the evil empire and all owners are out to screw the public, and if you don't "worship" Scubatoys you're retarded and not worthy of having a C-card. Other hot topics have been "Mask on forehead" and probably the hottest;"DIR vs everyone else".
I used to try and debate the issues with others here, but soon realized they either didn't want to hear another opinion, or more often, were just writing to rile people up, not really believing what they wrote.
So, I too, like many others, have kinda drifted away, and check the board for a couple of forums that I'm really interested in, or to do research on a trip I'm looking to put together.
It's kind of sad in a way, and I'd love to see things change for the better, but that's how I see it now.
Happy New Year to all my SB friends, and dive safe.

It has lost its importance for me since I got suspended twice, each time for 5 days for BS reasons. It used to be part of my day, but it is no longer. I'm not saying it has no value, it has value, but I don't feel I want to be part of it on a daily basis, as it used to be, as it now stands.

It has ALWAYS been my view that this forum was over-moderated and that certain moderators protected each other at the expense of posters.

I use to think it was a 8 or 9, but now feel it is a solid 4.

On another thread I talked about a phenomenon that I have observed in all organizations. Eventually, for a time at least, the organization becomes dominated by its most extreme element. That happens in political parties and religions especially, but it may be happening here as well.

NetDoc talked about reporting bullying and intimidating emails, but that is really not it. If you express any ideas that are remotely mainstream, you will be hit within seconds of your post by extremists who will suggest that you are a foolish idiot, and that anyone you infect with your ugly mainstream values is doomed to die a horrible death. It gets to be very predictable and very wearying after a while. You keep kicking yourself every time you invite that response, and eventually you learn to stick to safe topics.

I am slowly--very slowly--learning what is safe to talk about and what is not safe. I have a way to go yet.

lmao@you getting banned. Hey, I wonder how many times H2Andy has been banned?

Ok, I am going to start a new thread called, "Why were you banned",. I want to read the war stories and who people think was petty or correct in causing their ban. Hope you will share, pilot?

Anyways, look for it.
