I am considering booking a march stay with Scuba Club Cozumel. Not too concerned about the rooms, as long as they have a beach, bar and a place to sleep. My question is this: How is the diving with SCC?
Cozumel is known for its diving much more than its beaches, as is SCC. I've never stayed there, but never heard anything but good about it. The word "club" in a search of this forum by threads should give you some reports to review.

It's all a judgement call as compared to what one wants really. I cannot think of a hotel or dive op that I would advise against. Bad ones wouldn't last there. Coz verterans usually have their favs as do I, but any suggestions would really depend on exactly what you wanted. This is why I chuckle at these threads asking for suggestions. Most of the answers are just cheerleaders supporting their favs.

Oh, BTW, go to Blue Angel instead. They're the best. :D

Is there a dive op that will let you dive your computer and air , I had a bad time at scc as their dives were 80 feet for 45 minutes . I found the same thing with most of the other oufits as well . Current or no current , I want to dive my tank and computer .
I also would say the food at scc was very average . For the same price I used Casa del Mar all inclusive and the food was great . Order three meals a day off their menu and unlimited bar . Much better value , same dive profile 80 feet for 45 minutes . Can you say Bonaire

Most of the smaller ops let you use your computer and don't limit your bottom time, Blue Xt, Aldora, Living Underwater. I have dove with Blue Xt twice and have only been limited by my gas supply so far.

None of the ops we've been out with have pre-set bottom times. They've included Dive Cozumel (also known as Yellow Rose), Deep Blue, and Blue Magic. As noted above, this is typical of the "boutique" operators. The larger ops, for a variety of reasons, tend to be more regimented.

While I'm here, I'll just comment that "best" resort/hotel/dive op/reef/restaurant in Cozumel will generate more discussion than "best religion" or "best political party." As that Dandy cowboy says, we've all got our favorites, but that only means they're "best" for us personally. I don't even stay at my favorite hotel on the island any more because it's too expensive nowadays.

I didn't know that SCC was so regimented? When was that CWloyd?

We have never been out with an op with pre set bottom times in Cozumel either. We have alway chosen small 6 pack ops that offer great service. Cant imagine why anyone would choose and op with limited bottom time considering the large number of shops who do not. We also have or favorite as well that is the best for us.
The resort that we would like to stay at is far to expensive for us so we have never stayed there. We are happy staying in a condo in Corpus Christi and really enjoying the neighborhood.

There is a lot of good advice in this thread..."best is in the mind of the beholder". My favorite is the Presidente where I was certified in 1992, but find far too expensive now.

Raul Platas with Bottom Time Divers.

I've never had an op let me use my tank and computer better than him. If your good on air consumption, at the end of the dive it will just be the two of you flying along.

Al tanks only, but 70+ min on an Al80 is common. 100s are also available.

WOW...that is an open ended question....what may be BEST for me...may not work at all for you.....what are you looking for in a resort other than adults only...give us a few more details and most of us are always happy to give you our opinions on the one or ones we like :eyebrow:

BTW almost all the beds in cozumel are hard...it is just part of the charm ;-)

exactly why we have been renting condos at Residencias Reef for over 5 years. After attempting to sleep on rocks for years, we finally made the change and will never go back to any facility that does not have "american" type ........... lol, softer beds.

Best hotel is the Presidente, best all inclusive is the Palace, second best all inclusive and also an adults only property is supposed to be the Wyndham Aura according to THEM. I have no idea if it's true though, and there were a lot of reviews that are very suspect so do your homework carefully re it. After that it's the Iberostar & Grand, and different people rate them differently but I preferred the Iberostar.
It really depends on how you rate the different features, distance to town, and of course the food. My bed at home is just as hard as those in Cozumel, so obviously I like a hard bed, and my tastes in food seem to be different than main stream American tastes, which is OK so I rarely recommend restaurants, but I do have many favorites on the island with many more to try.
Would you prefer a place in town so that you can walk everywhere? Or a resort that you seldom leave?
Photo tours of some are here, plus a good look at the beach in front of the Aura, which isn't all that nice below the waterline.

Which is exactly why anyone who spends time in Cozumel should go check out other hotels/facilities while your there on a trip to see if the amendments are as advertised. You will find that some hotels use old pictures of rooms and facilities and they are not as advertised for "todays" condition. Presidente is a very nice resort. Stayed there in 2001 in a Reef Room which was nice. We have not been back since we have found other accomodatons that fit our needs better. We are not interested in AI's since we love many of the Restaurants on the island. AIs work for many just not us. We also prefer to stay on the southern side of the island and actually enjoy the drive to town for dinner. We prefer the southern dive sites which works out for us in the end. Many like to stay close to town but its just not for us. We are not interested in looking at cruise ships from our room.
