text messaging buddy to buddy/boat underwater, or else some kind of radio system you could use without a full-face mask.

A mini-GPS that would automatically track where you'd been, and show the way back to wherever

What new invention you think would be key for scuba...I think a reg with a lil sqirter for some fresh water to avoid dry mouth would be good

It's already out there.. http://scuda.com/The_SCUDA.htm

But they are kind of a pain to keep clean, and a bit bulky. I've found the Apollo Bio Filter solves the dry mouth for me.

Years ago Scubapro had a reg that would deliver moist air to prevent dry mouth. The reg was introduced in the late 70's. I guess it never caught on. Anyone remember the name of this old reg? I think it may have even warmed the air. WABA comes to mind? Warm Air something something?

It would be scary with how much I text message now, if I could do it underwater. So cool....

Gloves with nails -- at least on thumb and index finger.

A very easy to fly small personal aircraft (6 seater + divegear) which gets 100mpg, has an autopilot and full navigation & IFR suite that can can fly 1500 miles (+reserve) without refueling, does it at 500mph cruising and costs...oh, only $25,000.

No more coldwater diving for me! :D

-hh

someone already mentioned - GPS device that can help to get back. i know that we're supposed to be good at navigation with just a compass but still GPS would be awesome!.
